Resilience, Relinquishment, and Restoration

A recent article entitled "Deep Adaptation: A Map for Navigating Climate Tragedy" has been causing a stir because of its dire conclusions of the effect of climate change on our near future. The paper lists the three R's for dealing with the issues presented:

Resilience involves the capacity to adapt to changing circumstances so as to survive with valued norms and behaviours.

Relinquishment involves people and communities letting go of certain assets, behaviours and beliefs where retaining them could make matters worse.

Restoration involves people and communities rediscovering attitudes and approaches to life and organization that our hydrocarbon-fuelled civilization eroded.

In keeping with our commitment to the International Co-operative Alliance's seven principles of co-operation Sun Certified will continue to be a leader in our community providing information and affecting real change in the way we build and renovate homes to ensure that our future generations are not doomed by our current behaviour.
